The 74kg men’s class lift last on Day 2 of the 2022 World Open Equipped Powerlifting Championships in Viborg, Denmark next month and we have two of the biggest names in equipped lifting going toe to toe once again. Kjell Egil Bakkelund of Norway is currently riding high. He comes in with back to back world titles and the 2022 World Games gold medal. His nominated total is the 875kg he did at this year’s Europeans – his highest since 2019 – and he is looking pretty hard to beat. However, Poland’s Jarosław Olech isn’t just anyone. He has been world champion no less than 16 times. He won gold at three successive World Games. He is nominated with 860kg, not far behind Bakkelund, and you would be ill-advised to count him out. It looks like an even tighter race in the 83kg class. They will lift off at 10am on Day 3 – Wednesday 16th November.
