At the World Equipped Powerlifting Championships in Viborg, Denmark, the 57kg class will lift at 1500 CET on Day 2 – Tuesday 15th November. Kimberly Johnson of USVI is nominated in first with the 550kg total she did at The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama. She just missed the podium that day but it looks like she’s in line for it this time out. Since winning the World Juniors in 2016, Kimberly has been climbing the ranks: her best result in the open so far is her overall bronze from Stavanger last year. Could this be her year to take the top step? She will need to stay ahead of Chinese Taipei’s Yen-Tzu Huang. Last year’s silver medallist, she finished behind Johnson at the World Games with 540kg so the question is who has made the most progress since July? They have this year’s Junior World Champion, Emily Finnern of Germany, to contend with too.
