At the upcoming World Equipped in Denmark, the 59kg men’s class will lift at 1.30pm CET on the first day of the competition – Monday 14th November. Last year’s bronze medallist and former junior world champion, Yi-Chun Lin of Chinese Taipei, tops the nominations this year with 707.5kg. He struggled on bench at The World Games earlier this year – will this be his redemption and his first open world title? He will need to keep Ecuador’s Franklin Leon at bay though. Leon has taken the silver medal at equipped and classic world championships eight times now and he will be hungry to make this the year he took an extra step up the podium. Leon’s nomination isn’t far behind at 692.5kg and then the next three are nominated within 5kg of each other so we should see some close competition for all the podium places.
