Last week on Jan. 28, Huron’s synchronized swimming team competed at the state figure meet in the Huron pool. Huron placed third, after Troy United and Pioneer. Exclusively focused on figures, which are technical elements that swimmers perform individually, such as the Rio (pictured on the fifth slide) and the Ariana (pictured on the sixth slide), this meet represents the midpoint of the synchronized swimming season. Swimmers practiced for this meet from the beginning of the season in December, with meets in between. Huron’s last meet was two weeks before the state figure meet. “I was a little disappointed with how I did,” senior swimmer Lillia Brooks said. “My scores were slightly lower than the previous meet, so I dropped from second place in my figure group to fifth. But my figures were much better than they were at the beginning of the season, so I was proud of that.” Photos and reporting by Sandra Fu
