The bezosearthfund fueled this groundbreaking project to identify #KeyBiodiversityAreas in the Tropical Andes and Congo Basin, helping safeguard two of the most biologically diverse regions in the world. This remarkable achievement 🌳 funded by the Bezos Earth Fund 🌿 has identified 719 Key Biodiversity Areas (#KBAs) across seven countries in the Tropical Andes and Congo Basin regions. From deserts to the middle of the ocean, Key Biodiversity Areas are essential for the planet’s overall health and the persistence of #biodiversity. 🌏 Indigenous Peoples were actively involved in the KBA identification process, and these efforts involved additional collaborations between national and local governments, local communities, and experts.
