Happy World Earthworm Day! Did you know there are 9000+ species of earthworms? These 9000+ species can be divided into 3 groups: ° anecic worms - worms that build deep vertical burrows in the ground (nightcrawlers) ° endogeic worms - worms that build shallow, horizontal burrows, but rarely come to the surface (green worms) ° epigeic worms - worms that live on or near the surface (Red Wigglers) Red Wigglers (Eisenia fetida) are the species we raise to produce our worm castings.
