The employees were spurred to action after Peet’s Coffee locations at Piedmont Avenue and Temescal Plaza, as well as the Telegraph Avenue and Dwight Way location, successfully unionized in 2023. They petitioned to join the Peet’s Labor Union as part of the Industrial Workers of the World, or IWW. Their demands include better control over hours, higher wages, longer breaks and better trainings. “Workers across Peet’s face understaffing, lack of training, speedup while making beverages, and wage stagnation, leading to deteriorating service,” reads a union press release. “4th Street Peet’s workers joined the IWW because of its commitment to union democracy, rank and file organizing, and militant tactics.” Read more through link in bio. ✍️: Brianna Smith| briegamu 📸: Alex Hernandez Avila . . . #dailycal #berkeley #peetscoffee
