Water seepage in places that have changing seasons can cause serious damage to your home 🏡 With any type of masonry you can expect that water will get into the cavity behind the brick. The key is to give it a clear path to get back out and also a means for the wall to dry. At our #kenmoreclassic the Barrett Homes team are using a combination of products to ensure the bottom of this wall will weep out the water. We start by sealing the wall plate to the concrete under the tyvek insulation. Next we lap sticky masonry flashing under the tyvek. Then we incorporate mtidry cavity weep holes under the first course of brick and #cavclear mesh rainscreen to ensure that bottom of the wall won’t get clogged with mortar and the water can find its way to the weep holes. Lastly, we will install mesh weep hole vents at the bottom and top of the wall to ensure ventilation, allowing the wall the to dry out quickly.
