Leading Senior Constable Les Power has been a driver of many initiatives that strengthen the relationship between police and the Aboriginal community since becoming a Police Aboriginal Liaison Officer in 2009.
Les has supported the local Aboriginal community in Horsham and surrounds through his involvement in programs such as:
- Murray River Marathon
- Aboriginal and Emergency Services Kayak Race, which became the Wimmera River Challenge
- Police Koori Youth Group
- Hoops Against Violence
- Grampians Indigenous Family Violence Regional Action Group.
Last week, Les was acknowledged for his work as the recipient of the Victoria Police Employee Award at the Chief Commissioner’s NAIDOC Awards.
