Summer is coming soon! It’s a great time to start thinking about ideas to improve and celebrate literacy and learning in your community of Oakland students and families. The OLC can help you make your project come to life with an action grant or book distribution. This year, we have access to a large quantity of new, high interest books to share with select community and faith based organizations. ACTION GRANTS FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS: The OLC is inviting applications for action grants up to $500 for summer reading projects that give away new books, encourage reading, and focus on literacy with preschool, elementary, and middle school age students in Oakland. There will be an opportunity for grantees to pick up free books from the OLC office starting on May 30. In your application, make sure you specify whether you’re applying for books only, grant $ only, or both.
