We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of critically acclaimed feminist, scholar, writer, healer, educator, artist, and poet bell hooks. She is the author of more than 30 books that explored the interconnectedness of race, class, capitalism, gender, and patriarchy in our understanding of systems of oppression and domination. She is also the author of numerous children’s books encouraging young Black and Brown kids to love and honor who they are such as “Happy to Be Nappy,” “Skin Again,” and “Homemade Love.” Words truly can’t even begin to describe the profound impact that bell’s transformative writings, thinking, and teachings has had on our lives.
