Say hello to one of our newest wells in Burkina Faso in the community of Wapemsi!
Wapemsi, which translates to ""come and rest here"", is a community of 600 people who have had only unclean and distant water sources available to them. Their nearest clean water source, 2 miles away, was completely inaccessible during the rainy season, forcing them to rely on shallow unclean wells shared with livestock.
Ironically, there was no time for us to rest in Wapemsi as it was one of the most difficult wells we have drilled, requiring us to make a whopping FIVE attempts to strike water.
The community members were certain we would give up and abandon their quest for clean water. But that's not how The Sonder Project operates. Once we commit to a community, we do everything we can to provide them with a deep-water well.
Thanks to the dedication of our Country Director, Martin, and our trusty drilling team, once we did strike water, the well in Wapemsi ended up with one of our highest flow rat...
