Behind the scenes of my coolest and most intense elephant encounter ever. We spotted this family of 9 elephants walking across the plains towards the only waterhole in the area. We watched them from afar for a few minutes before driving to the waterhole, parking our car, and waiting for them to get there. My brother and I sat on the roof of the car, totally exposed as the whole family walked within probably 30 feet of us. The matriarch saw us first, and stopped for a second to look directly at us before moving on.
