The XCERTS, 2000 Trees Festival
REVIEW: The XCERTS are the personification of everything that 2000trees stands for. Raw honesty, unrelenting determination and unmatched passion make a formidable pair, and every time they cross paths, it makes for an occasion to remember. The gooey-eyed adoration of ‘Drive Me Wild’ and earnest devotion of ‘Hold On To Your Heart’ feel as whole-hearted and romantic as ever, whilst fresher jolts of energy like ‘GIMME’ and ‘Ache’ show off all of their angles brilliantly. Though it’s a special showing of ‘Aberdeen 1987’, played emotionally in tribute to vocalist Murray Macleod’s now cancer-free dad, where the true excellence, a trait that has allowed them to continue to be one of the UK’s most precious jewels, shines through once more. Throw in a wonderful surprise appearance from one Josh Franceschi for a closer scream-along of ‘Feels Like Falling In Love’, and you have instant memories, the sort that this band and this festival specialise in.
