In tomorrow’s episode, Team Deakins has a great conversation with cinematographer Caleb Deschanel! In this episode, we discuss Caleb’s experience working with director Carroll Ballard and we learn that it was when Caleb was on the set of Black Stallion that he realized the importance of camera placement. Caleb told us about working with Hal Ashby on Being There and about how he believes you have to have courage to be a camera operator! Together we discuss the cinematographer’s job of creating mythology and totems that tell a visual story and about how you must put time and effort into inserts, just as you do with every shot, because every shot is valuable. A fantastic conversation that you don’t want to miss! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
