*SINGLE LEG BALANCE & STABILITY*
It’s
#FitnessFriday and this weeks exercise is all about single leg balance, coordination, and stability. Hockey players spend the majority of their time having most of their body weight on one leg. It’s extremely beneficial to be able to control your body through many different positions you are put into throughout the course of a game. An unstable and/or unbalanced athlete leads to decreased performance and a higher risk of injury.
Step 1: Arrange 8 cones in a circle/star pattern around your body. (Holding hockey stick is optional)
Step 2: Place one foot in the center of that circle and begin reaching out with the other foot to lightly touch each cone. One repetition is touching each cone once.
Complete multiple repetitions and sets with each foot. Move cones further away from the center of the circle to make it harder.
