*OFF-ICE FOOTWORK & STICKHANDLING*

Smooth stickhandling and good footwork are two things that contribute to a hockey players ability. Some of you may be familiar with this exercise because it is something that Connor McDavid has demonstrated in the past. Being able to move your feet/hands at different speeds allows you to have total control over what you want to do in terms of skating speed and handling the puck.
Equipment needed:
- ball/puck to stickhandle
- your stick
- 2 sticks (or lines, tape, etc.) to step over
Step 1: Start with one foot in between the sticks and one foot out to the side (keep weight shifted on foot inside the sticks)
Step 2: Begin stickhandling ball/puck in front of your body and switch your feet to the other side (see video above)
Step 3: Add speed as you get comfortable with the footwork (can even do this without the ball/puck to get the footwork down)
