One of Fairmont Palliser’s most famous guests arrived 85 years ago today, July 15, 1939. Helen Keller (1880–1968) was an American author and disability rights advocate who had been deaf and visually impaired since childhood. Keller attended the Calgary Stampede the day she arrived. Keller planned to seclude herself for the summer at the Eden Valley Ranch near High River so she could work on her next book.
