“University has a way of demonstrating you can handle more than you know. I signed up to lead a physical activity program for international students at the U of A, but was unexpectedly left to run the program independently. At first I was overwhelmed by the task of facilitating different recreational, sport and wellness activities for international students each week, along with promoting and maintaining the program. But with support from others, I was able to build rapport with students and build long lasting friendships. I played curling, lacrosse, field hockey, taekwondo, ultimate frisbee and many other sports I would have never tried if it wasn’t for the program. It was a gratifying experience and I will always remember celebrating my accomplishments playing mario kart and eating pizza with fellow students.”
