Did you know that this month is French American Heritage Month? ๐
Though not as popular and well-known, French American Heritage Month celebrates the contributions of French Americans in U.S history.
For example, the French have contributed to U.S. independence โ๏ธ by fighting alongside the U.S. and supporting them. According to the Office of the Historian, the French โprovided supplies, arms and ammunition, uniforms, and most importantly, troops and naval support to the beleaguered Continental Army.โ
The French have also contributed massively to the design and the growth of the U.S. This includes the building of the Statue of Liberty ๐ฝ which was a gift to show the alliance between France and the U.S.
Currently, 11.8 million of French descent are living in the U.S ๐บ๐ธ. This includes the 750,000 French-American citizens who were added to the French American population due to Franceโs large Creole โ๏ธ community. In the most recent census, about 1,203,941 people spoke French at home....
