Violence of all kinds happens to everyone, no matter their race, gender, religion, status, cultural background, age, or ability. However, it is important to understand that groups who are already being oppressed are at a higher risk for specific types of violence. Black women especially are at a higher risk of intimate partner violence and sexual violence, throughout their lifetimes.
