TUTU TUESDAY // Twirling into
#TutuTuesday with more fun facts.
Did you know tutus come in various styles?
🥞 Pancake Tutu: This style is very stiff and flat, giving a pancake-like appearance. It's often worn in ballets where a more dramatic, angular look is desired. Example this season: Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake.
🍽️ Platter Tutu: Similar to the pancake tutu, this style is also stiff but has a slightly softer appearance. It's worn for classical ballet performances. Example this season: Mikko Nissinen’s Raymonda as part of Spring Experience.
💞 Romantic Tutu: This style is longer and softer than the classical tutu. It reaches just below the knee or mid-calf and is often made of layers of soft tulle. Example this season: George Balanchine’s Mozartiana as part of Winter Experience.
Each is designed to enhance a dancer's movements on stage. Tune in every Tuesday this month for fun facts about our tutus.
