Here, WTVR CBS 6 reporter Rob Cardwell highlights Steward’s Latino Education Advancement Program (LEAP), in his weekly segment, “Building Better Minds.” Founded in 2007, LEAP is a tuition-free summer program for Latino students entering grades 8-12 that features small classes, dedicated teachers, and college counseling. LEAP is designed to contribute to high school success and college readiness. Thank you to Claudia Ramirez, director of the program, for fostering a supportive LEAP community. "[LEAP teachers] helped guide us into how we can get scholarships for college and how we can save for college,” said student Diego Henao Ospina, who has participated in LEAP for the past several years. Ana Reveles Leon ’24, a three-time LEAP participant, learned how to craft a resume and noted that the community and sense of welcome made LEAP an enriching experience.
