“I decided to attend the U of A because, after four cancer diagnoses, pursuing the study of oncology only made sense! Navigating university with cancer has given me such a different perspective and shown me how caring the people are here. From my professors to my peers, the outcry of support I have received has shown me how important it is to talk about the reality of living with cancer. Having the strength and courage to speak about being sick is something I feel is so important as being ill, let alone cancer, is not widely talked about in people my age. My goal is to help bring awareness to cancer in younger people, as it’s such an understated issue that can happen to anyone. If I can help someone in my position or prevent it altogether, that’s all I could ever ask for.”
