At the same time, there was also this quote that guided me: ‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.’ So, I put that quote on my childhood wall, and from then on my mission was to go to the usnavalacademy, to go into the Marines, and go overseas and serve my country. I feel blessed I knew what I wanted to do from an early age, and that I was afforded that opportunity. I served in the Marines for seven years before coming to Princeton. When I was in the Marines, I deployed to Afghanistan and then to Spain. They were very successful deployments. And I guess that’s why they were so meaningful to me.
