With Sydney having it’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras this weekend, it would be a good time to mention a pioneer of Pro Football with the late Justin Fashanu being the first openly Gay Pro Football player. If you look back at the time he was playing, “torture” wouldn’t do it justice to describe his time being Black and Gay in 1980’s English football.
