The proposal was tabled in January, March and May — after revisions were made in March, the bill was taken to the Academic Senate for recommendations and revised again accordingly. In a May 1 letter to the Board of Regents, Chair of the Assembly of the Academic Senate James Steintrager noted appreciation for the “balanced approach” of the revised version, noting the proposed policy respected “unit autonomy” while providing consistent university standards. The vote passed with a majority vote from both the Academic and Student Affairs Committee as well as the Compliance and Audit Committee.
