What does it take to establish successful farm to school programming? Some critical factors for our Program Director who spearheaded district-wide gardening and cooking initiatives... 1) Multi-tiered Support - success is directly related to excitement and support from constituents in all areas - teachers, parents, staff, etc. 2) Creative Collaboration - establish traditional and nontraditional relationships within your school and community. Funds can be received from community organizations and cooking carts can be established by collaboration between food service and curriculum departments. 3) Secure Funding - it's much easier to create a successful program when you have a secure financial position.
