Josephine, 17, shared her incredible gardening story with us during Kids Garden Month. Gardening is her favorite creative outlet and she's nurtured a love of biology from a young age. For Josephine, the vegetables and flowers grown in her backyard promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen the connection with her family, neighbors, and community. Read some of her beautiful words. "When my family moved, my garden moved with us. It acted as an outlet for my stress and gave me an opportunity to be creative. My garden began small; initially, it consisted of a small lavender flower that I hand-picked from the store. Just as a photographer meticulously searches for the right object/area to take a picture of, I also take a lot of time to decide which flowers, bushes, and trees I want in my garden. Bitter melons, dragon fruits, hibiscus flowers, and more, my garden had countless of different plants.
