Have you seen one of these chomping on your garden? These colorful caterpillars are the larva of the black swallowtail butterfly. If we want to enjoy the presence of butterflies in our gardens, we need to recognize and support them at all stages of their life cycle! Try planting a special garden of carrots, dill, parsley, and fennel. These host plants will provide food for the hungry caterpillars and (hopefully!) save your plants for harvest.
