“Part of celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth for me is taking the time to appreciate my American upbringing with the influence of my Caribbean heritage. Both of my parents being born in Barbados raised me with the Caribbean spirit that everyone is “family” and should be welcome to join in. I use #BlackHistoryMonth as a time to appreciate the black women that have inspired me and paved the way for me to be where I am today.
