Can graves shine?
•
He wandered around the cemetery for a bit, stopping at different graves to pray. The largest Jewish cemetery in the world with some 70,000 graves sits on the hilly slopes of the Mount of Olives in
#Jerusalem, facing the the Temple Mount. Front row seats for the Second Coming, someone says.
A road traces the cemetery leading down to the Garden of Gethsemane and offers a closer look at the white tombs. I can peek through small eye-level cut outs. The graves seem to shimmer and shine in the bright sun. Two more men, donning their black hats, walk at a fast clip and stop at the edge of the cemetery near the road. They're talking and I can almost hear them. They look my way as they hear the loud American laughter (we can’t help it sometimes) and we see each other. They could be my age. I tip my baseball cap (pretty American) and wave
#shalom. They both wave back.
