Knowing who came before me here at the
#JordanRiver was humbling to say the least. To dip my feet on the Jordan side, where several popes have visited and see the Israeli side a short splash away, was life changing. I met an archaeologist, who helped with discover the site where Jesus is said to be baptized by St. John the Baptist, who said the Jordan Baptism Site and Crossing is a living symbol of loving your neighbor. He was an engineer by trade but here, he helps build human bridges of peace. This is the lowest archaeological site in the world he said, but the closest to heaven.
He said that when heads of state, churches become simple pilgrims here, just like me. Together, "we do not compete but we complete each other."
