SOMEONE ELSE'S SHOES • My cousin asked me if I wanted to go into the Hindu temple. I wasn't sure, honestly. It had been raining, you needed to remove your shoes and my feet were sore, and then you had to pay a fee to take photos inside. I declined the fee and only took this shot outside the temple. But I kicked off my Tevas and headed inside, leaving my camera with another cousin. It was beautiful. There aren't many times on a trip to somewhere new when you don't have a phone or camera to take photos. Being able to fully be present, not through a lens or anything else, but feeling the dirt under your feet, the puddles and dips in the sidewalk and truly seeing the shapes, colors and people. Seeing how the smoke rises, the candles flicker and hearing the chant and bells was perfect. I saved some Singaporean dollars but gained a refreshing perspective for free. Then when I went back outside, I almost put on someone else's Tevas. Same pair. Close to the same size. Different country. 📍 Sin...
