A powerful experience at the #B1GLife Series: Selma to Montgomery. “I’m super grateful for the opportunity to visit Selma and Montgomery with the Big 10. The trip was a chance to reflect on history and be empowered to exercise our current rights. Although things aren’t perfect, civic engagement is a great way to continue paving the way. Something that stuck out to me was the Nkyinkyim instillation by Kwame Akoto in the Legacy Museum. It put faces to the many lives lost by drowning during the slave trade. We got to dig into both the magnitude of slavery, segregation and now incarceration and see some of the lasting implications. Every speaker that shared their experiences emphasized voting. I’m glad that Oregon Athletics already has the Keep It 100 initiative in place to get us registered to vote.” -Morgan Hood #13 #GoDucks | #Power
