AB 1955 extends the protections to prohibit educational entities from enforcing any policy that may require teachers and other employees to disclose a student’s sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression without the student’s consent. It also protects employees and contractors from retaliation for supporting students.
“The Superintendent’s Gender Equity and Sexual Harassment Advisory Committee (GESHAC) plays a key role in supporting the district to achieve its mission by providing an open forum for discussing issues related to gender equity that affect students in BUSD,” Senior Communications Officer Trish McDermott said in an email.
