Did you know that the Storch Memorial Building was once Trinity's library?⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ By the early 1970s, record space in Storch was running thin, which prompted president Duncan Wimpress (1970-76) to undertake a $5 million fundraising project for a new library. Deeming the new library a "number one building priority" for the growing campus, Wimpress envisioned a "futuristic" building that would open just three years after his tenure ended.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Construction on Coates Library began in 1977, and it officially opened in 1979.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Like Trinity itself, Coates Library leans on the past to look to the future.
