In celebration of #NationalChihuahuaAppreciationDay, we would like to introduce DIEGO, our tiny fighter! Our team meet this gentle guy at Tri-Cities Animal Shelter. He was left at a house to fend for himself and when a new family moved in, they initially decided to keep him. After about a year, the family realized they were not able to continue to care for him and eventually surrendered him. Luckily for Diego, when our team met him, they instantly knew they couldn’t leave without him. Upon arrival in Spokane, our team examined him and noticed that he had an abnormal lump near his rear end. After further assessment, they identified it to be a perineal hernia and swiftly repaired it. Unfortunately, this is a common health risk when males are left intact into their mature years.
