We are excited to introduce a new series that delves into The Sonder Project's Theory of Change, breaking it down into its impacts and outcomes. Our aim is to elucidate how our programs contribute to empowering communities and, ultimately, eradicating extreme poverty through high-impact, sustainable development. To kickoff we highlight our 'Water Is Our Right' initiative, in which we drill deep-water wells and distribute affordable water filters that improve health outcomes in rural communities For many families in Burkina Faso and Malawi, available water sources, such as shallow wells or streams, can be notoriously contaminated with a variety of bacteria, viruses, and chemicals originating from human and animal waste, agriculture products, and other pollutants. Consuming this water can cause a variety of sometimes fatal illnesses, especially for children, such as diarrhea, rotavirus, cholera, and typhoid.
