Arcosanti_Arizona ✨ TommyLundberg & I loved this stop in the high desert on our road trip with Visit_Arizona back in April. 📍 If you’re not familiar yet, #Arcosanti is a unique experimental town in central Arizona (just an hour drive from Phoenix, Flagstaff and Sedona) founded in 1970 with a mission to create reimagined architecture and micro communities sustainably integrated into the natural world. Inspired by Paolo Soleri’s principles of “arcology” to resist urban sprawl, this project is a prototype of exploring and building innovative/resilient #architecture with respect to ecology. Constructed with local materials over time by almost 8,000 talented volunteers 😳, the structures you see were designed to be multi-use to extend their utility and usefulness.
