UPMC is highlighting the work of our outstanding Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) employees during #AAPIHeritageMonth. Dr. Swaytha Ganesh is medical director of the Living Donor Program at the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute. She helped develop the #livingdonor #livertransplant (LDLT) program at UPMC, which is one of the leading LDLT programs in the country. Her work in addition to patient care includes creating awareness and providing education about the benefits of LDLT. “I love taking care of patients and educating them about living donation,” Dr. Ganesh says. “I also love seeing the altruistic donors who come forward to help someone on the wait list. That truly warms my heart and reinstates the faith I have in humanity daily.
