It’s time to say farewell and happy retirement to longtime UPMC K9 Axel. Axel has been with UPMC Police and Security Services for nearly a decade — and he’s worked hard to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors, and guests. Now, as the result of an illness, Axel will be stepping down from his duties. To celebrate Axel’s friendship, dedication, and career, UPMC Police and Security services are gathering dog and cat food donations for several local animal organizations, including harpsaveslives, Sable’s Kennels, and thestreetdogcoalition Pittsburgh. These local groups are dedicated to feeding hungry animals — a cause close to Axel’s heart. You can drop off food donations at the UPMC Police and Security offices at UPMC Presbyterian (ES129 at the UPMC Presbyterian South Tower) in Axel’s honor.
