"I have been privileged to practice as a female medical oncologist in Western Maryland for the past 15 years with the support of a strong, forward-looking hospital administration. Having women as a part of the staff and leadership brings vital and comprehensive perspectives to hospitals and community health. I am also very much aware I stand on the shoulders of women who forged new paths for women in education, and in medicine. Having completed my undergraduate degree at an all-women’s college in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Bryn Mawr College, I met women who had attended the Medical College of Pennsylvania (previously Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania, established in 1850, among the first medical schools that accepted women).
