Today marks the one-year anniversary of the first COVID-19 vaccinations at UPMC.
In the 12 months since, UPMC has administered more than 721,000 total doses of COVID-19 vaccines, helping protect our employees, their families, and our communities.
On Dec. 14, 2020, Char Pykosh, CRNP, senior advanced practice provider, Surgical ICU, UPMC Presbyterian, became the first UPMC employee and one of the first in the country to receive the Pfizer vaccine. That morning, Tami Minnier, chief quality and operational excellence officer, administered the shot to Char and nine other employees in the John G. Rangos Sr. Research Center at childrenspgh.
