UPMC is proud to honor the military members who serve our nation. We thank all veterans for their courage and sacrifice. This week, for #VeteransDay, we're sharing some of their stories. "Following my high school graduation in August 2014, I was unsure what career path to follow so I enlisted as a Medic (68W) in the United States Army Reserves and used my job selection as an opportunity to test the waters in the medical field. Upon completion of my training in November 2016, I returned home to my previous job as a waitress and my newly acquired NREMT certification began to gather dust. In 2017, I met a paramedic that was working full time for Susquehanna Regional EMS who convinced me to do a ride along on one of the MICUs here in Williamsport. I quickly discovered an interest in civilian EMS and began applying to Susquehanna Health for a full-time position as an EMT with SREMS. I began my career here in our transport division in July 2017.
