About 55 of Pennsylvania’s roughly 260 Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurses (CPEN) work at childrenspgh. This year, Molly Gibson, Heather Kennedy, and Kristen Sandridge at UPMC Children’s revamped the hospital’s CPEN course, converted it to a fully virtual format, and offered it to our partner hospitals at no cost. In July the first non-Children’s nurses took the test, and Isabelle Meehl, RN-BSN, CEN, TCRN, CPEN, from UPMC Hamot was the first to pass. She says, “[The course] prepared me for the test but more importantly to care for little ones with a high level of care.” To date Izzy is the only triple-certified nurse at UPMC Hamot. Congratulations! #EmergencyNursesDay #ENWeek
