HB999 is yet another power play from DeSantis aimed at creating a culture of fear and discrimination in our state. Just months ago, DeSantis supported the decision to ban African American studies courses. Fast forward to the present day and the continuation of erasing relevant moments in American history. Bill HB999 is set to ban federal funding to promote, support, or maintain campus activities that advocate for diversity, equity, or inclusion. It will undermine academic freedom and compromise. Desantis and HB999 are threatening the safety and education of students in Florida.
