#OnThisDay in 1892, Ida B. Wells-Barnett’s three friends, who were also successful businessmen, were lynched in Memphis, Tennessee. Her friends were murdered because they opened a grocery store near a White man’s store and their store was more successful. After the lynchings, she wrote editorial pieces in her newspaper, Free Speech, about the domestic terrorism in the U.S. and traveled globally to lead anti-lynching, women’s suffrage, and civil rights crusades for decades until her death in 1931. #WomenYouShouldKnow #WomensHistoryMonth
