Vernon Dahmer was the NAACP chapter president of Forrest County, MS. He invited members and activists of SNCC to Hattiesburg to set up voter registration drives. 🗺️ 📓 Just weeks before his death in January 1966, he announced on radio station that he would pay poll taxes for those registering to vote if they could not afford it.
