What does freedom mean to you? While many celebrate July 4 as America’s Independence Day, many African Americans celebrate independence on June 19, the date enslaved Blacks found out they were actually freed 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
On June 18 beginning at 11a CDT, African American cultural and history museums join forces to celebrate Black freedom. Visit blkfreedom.org. #BLKFreedom
